DMS HR Consulting Ltd was set up by our Managing Director, David Stott.  David is the main point of contact for day-to-day advisory and training work.  He is supported by other specialist advisers where the need arises.

David is a qualified solicitor (England and Wales, 2001; Northern Ireland, 2011). He trained at City law firm Herbert Smith LLP and qualified into the Employment Department there in March 2001.  When David married his wife Margaret they decided that the weekly commute between London and Cardiff (where Margaret lectured at the University) was no longer a viable option!  David therefore decided to leave Herbert Smith in 2005 to take up a position as an employment lawyer in the Cardiff office of Eversheds LLP.  In 2008, David left Eversheds to become an Associate in the Employment Department at Burges Salmon LLP in Bristol where he was promoted to the position of Senior Associate in 2009.  More change came in 2011 when Margaret was appointed to a Professorship in French at Queen’s University Belfast.  It was at that point that David decided to leave Burges Salmon to set up DMS HR Consulting.
 
In setting up DMS HR Consulting, David has been able to capitalise on over ten years’ experience of advising and training public and private sector clients on the full range of employment matters.  The training courses and HR support services that we offer directly benefit from David’s hands-on experience of dealing with contentious employment matters such as employment tribunal claims as well as non-contentious matters ranging from employment contracts and bonus arrangements, executive terminations, internal grievances and investigations, complex TUPE and outsourcing arrangements and individual and collective redundancies to employment issues arising in corporate and commercial transactions and in insolvency situations. 
 
David also brings to bear the experience that he has gained over the years of working for private sector clients from a variety of industry sectors, such as telecoms, retail, financial services, transport and defence, and public sector clients such as central and local government departments, NHS Trusts, housing associations, universities, FE colleges and schools.  Further detail on David’s experience in all these areas can be found in David’s CV, which can be downloaded here.
 
David has written articles for external publication on various employment topics including sex discrimination and schools-related employment issues.  David is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales, the Law Society of Northern Ireland and the Employment Lawyers Association.  He is also an experienced mediator, accredited by the London School of Mediation.
 
Outside work, David has a variety of interests, including travel, gardening, walking, astronomy, open water swimming and spending time with his wife, Margaret, and his young daughter, Martha.  He has recently taken up music again after a 30-year hiatus and is currently working for his Licentiate diploma in piano.  David speaks fluent German and competent Italian, having previously studied in both Germany and Italy for a number of years.
